partially because i always "forget" and disobey, partially because it's fun to draw blackletter while you're at brunch.

2007: the year i discovered my patronus

i found it in a dream, in a kitchen with exposed shelving and lots of wood paneling. on the shelf sat the most unusual piece of taxidermy i had ever seen, a truly rare specimen: a guinea pig with a single horn, suspended until the end of time in mid-hop.

the plaque read: guinea-corn.

my patronus. sent to protect me, and guide me on my way.

taking the plunge

for my friend's bachelorette party this past weekend. there's a color version as well, which was turned into a t-shirt for the guest of honor.

from whence i came

another oldie, from the 2000-2002 sketchbook.

this was an initial sketch for a comic i submitted to BUST magazine (never printed). i forget what the theme of the issue was. anyway, this is a drawing of my parents, circa that's-me-in-my-mom's-belly. the comic was something about how my parents' mass consumption of david bowie music while i was in utero resulted in me having excellent ziggy stardust hair when i was born (actually happened). i'm not sure where the finished comic is, but i love this drawing.
